Xbox's Phil Spencer claims Avowed delay is not due to quality concerns
Xbox Game Studios chief Phil Spencer has assured fans that the delay of the highly anticipated RPG Avowed is not due to any quality issues.
In a recent interview with IGN, Spencer acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the game's delay, but emphasized that the decision was made to give the developers more time to deliver a truly polished experience.
“We want to make sure that when Avowed comes out, it's the best game it can be,” Spencer said. “We're not going to rush it out just to meet a deadline. We're going to take the time to make sure it's something that we're proud of and that our fans will love.”
Spencer also revealed that the delay has allowed the team to expand the scope and ambition of Avowed.
“We've actually been able to take advantage of the extra time to add some new features and content to the game,” he said. “We think this is going to make Avowed an even more immersive and rewarding experience for players.”
Spencer's comments echo those of Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind Avowed. In a statement released earlier this year, Obsidian said that the delay was necessary to ensure that the game met the high expectations of fans.
“We're committed to making Avowed the best game it can be, and we believe that this additional development time will allow us to deliver on that promise,” the statement read.
Avowed is one of the most anticipated RPGs in development, and its delay has undoubtedly been met with some disappointment. However, Spencer's assurances that the game is not being delayed due to quality concerns should provide some reassurance to fans.
The extra development time will hopefully allow Obsidian to create an even more polished and ambitious RPG, and fans will ultimately be the beneficiaries.
