Wisconsin Football: Jack Sanborn Declares for NFL Draft
Badgers linebacker opts out of bowl game to enter professional ranks
Sanborn a key cog in Badgers' defense during standout career
JACK SANBORN, a senior linebacker for the Wisconsin Badgers football team, has declared for the NFL Draft, forgoing his final year of eligibility. Sanborn made the announcement on social media Wednesday evening, thanking his coaches, teammates, and the University of Wisconsin for his time in Madison. Sanborn's decision comes as no surprise, as he is widely considered one of the top linebacker prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. During his standout career at Wisconsin, Sanborn was a key cog in the Badgers' defense, helping lead UW to three Big Ten West Division titles and two appearances in the Rose Bowl. Sanborn was named an All-American by the Associated Press and the Football Writers Association of America in 2022, and he was also a finalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker. In 2022, Sanborn led the Badgers with 105 tackles, including 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also had two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Sanborn will now turn his attention to preparing for the NFL Draft, which will be held in April. He is expected to be one of the first linebackers taken off the board and could potentially be a first-round pick.
