Gamecocks Drop First Road Game of Season at No. 16/16 Indiana

South Carolina Suffers 82-64 Loss to Hoosiers

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of South Carolina women's basketball team (8-3) dropped its first road game of the season on Sunday, falling 82-64 to No. 16/16 Indiana (11-1) at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

South Carolina was led by Aliyah Boston, who finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Zia Cooke added 14 points, while Destanni Henderson had 11 points and five assists.

Hoosiers Shoot Lights Out in First Half

Indiana shot out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, thanks in large part to its hot shooting from beyond the arc. The Hoosiers made six of their first nine three-point attempts, including three from Grace Berger.

South Carolina closed the gap to 23-19 by the end of the quarter, but Indiana extended its lead back to double digits in the second quarter. The Hoosiers shot 6-of-12 from three-point range in the first half, while South Carolina made just 1-of-9 attempts.

Indiana took a 44-30 lead into halftime, led by Berger's 16 points. Boston led South Carolina with nine points and nine rebounds at the break.

Gamecocks Rally in Second Half, But Fall Short

South Carolina came out strong in the second half, outscoring Indiana 24-12 in the third quarter. Boston scored 10 points in the quarter, including a pair of three-pointers.

However, Indiana responded with a 10-2 run to start the fourth quarter, pushing its lead back to 12 points. The Hoosiers made their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory, ending South Carolina's eight-game winning streak.
