CPD, CFD Investigate Train Derailment in Queensgate
Chicago, IL -BREAKING NEWS-
Fire and police crews responded to a train derailment in the Queensgate neighborhood on the far northwest side of Chicago early Monday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of West Bryn Mawr Avenue and North Central Park Avenue.
According to Chicago police, a Metra train traveling inbound on the Milwaukee District North Line derailed while approaching the Queensgate station. Several cars jumped the tracks, causing significant damage to the train and the tracks.
There were no reported injuries to passengers or crew members. However, the derailment caused major disruptions to Metra service on the Milwaukee District North Line. Metra buses were brought in to transport passengers between the Jefferson Park and Edgebrook stations.
The Chicago Fire Department (CFD) and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) are investigating the cause of the derailment. Metra officials said they are working to repair the tracks and resume service as soon as possible.
The Queensgate train derailment is the second such incident in Chicago in recent months. In July, a Metra train derailed near the Clybourn station on the North Side, injuring dozens of passengers.
