WVU trails Baylor 35-28 in the third quarter
Mountaineers started hot, but Bears have responded in this Big 12 clash
WVU scores first, but Baylor comes back
The West Virginia Mountaineers jumped out to an early lead against the Baylor Bears but have since relinquished the lead in the third quarter of a Big 12 football game in Waco, Texas.
WVU scored a touchdown on its opening drive, but Baylor responded with a touchdown of its own to tie the game at 7-7.
The Mountaineers then retook the lead on a field goal, but the Bears again answered with a touchdown to take a 14-10 lead.
WVU tied the game at 14-14 on a touchdown run by running back CJ Donaldson, but Baylor took the lead for good on a touchdown pass from quarterback Blake Shapen to wide receiver Gavin Holmes with 1:49 left in the first half.
The Bears extended their lead to 28-14 on a touchdown run by running back Richard Reese early in the third quarter.
WVU cut the lead to 28-21 on a touchdown pass from quarterback JT Daniels to wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton, but Baylor answered with another touchdown pass from Shapen to Holmes to extend its lead to 35-21.
The Mountaineers then drove down the field and scored a touchdown on a pass from Daniels to wide receiver Sam James to cut the lead to 35-28, but the Bears have the ball and are driving with less than 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The game is being played at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, and is televised on ESPN.
