Wales beat Turkey 2-0 in UEFA Nations League
Moore and James seal victory
Wales put in an excellent performance to beat Turkey 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday night.
Kieffer Moore opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful header. Harry Wilson then set up Daniel James for the second goal in the second half. The win moved Wales up to second place in Group B4, three points behind leaders Holland. Turkey remains bottom of the group with no points.
Wales manager Robert Page made five changes to the side that started the 1-0 defeat to Poland on Sunday. Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, Sorba Thomas, and Moore all came into the team.
The changes worked as Wales started the game brightly. They took the lead in the 12th minute when James' cross from the left found Moore, who powered a header into the net from close range.
Wales continued to create chances in the first half, with James and Wilson both going close. Turkey improved after the break, but Wales defended resolutely and always looked dangerous on the break.
The second goal came in the 70th minute when Wilson's excellent pass found James, who finished confidently past the Turkish goalkeeper.
The win was a much-needed boost for Wales, who had lost their last three games. It also gives them a great chance of reaching the Nations League Finals next year.
Wales will now face Holland in their final Nations League game on Sunday. A win would see them top the group and reach the Finals.
