Tillis Scores 25, UC Irvine Defeats Pepperdine 80-62
Anteaters Improve to 11-12 Overall, 5-6 in Big West
Irvine, Calif. - Dawson Tillis scored a game-high 25 points to lead UC Irvine to an 80-62 victory over Pepperdine in a Big West Conference game Thursday night at the Bren Events Center.
The Anteaters (11-12, 5-6) never trailed in the game and led by as many as 21 points in the second half.
Tillis, a 6-foot-8 forward, was 10 of 14 from the field and 5 of 7 from the free throw line. He also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Collin Welp added 16 points for UC Irvine, while DJ Davis and Justin Hohn each scored 10 points.
Pepperdine (10-13, 4-7) was led by Mike Burnett, who scored 14 points. Kameron Edwards added 12 points and Maxwell Lewis had 11 points.
The Anteaters shot 52.6% from the field, while Pepperdine shot 40.7%. UC Irvine also outrebounded Pepperdine 36-28.
With the win, UC Irvine snapped a two-game losing streak. The Anteaters will return to action Saturday night when they host Cal State Fullerton.
