Hoosiers win 86-63 in first road game of the season
The Indiana Hoosiers picked up a big win on Sunday, beating South Carolina 86-63 at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.The win was the first road victory of the season for the Hoosiers, who are now 5-0 on the season. It was also the first win against a Power 5 opponent for coach Mike Woodson.
The Hoosiers took control of the game early, opening the game on a 10-2 run. The Gamecocks fought back to cut the deficit to 2 points several times, but the Hoosiers always had an answer.
Trayce Jackson-Davis led the way for the Hoosiers, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The senior forward is averaging 21.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season.
Race Thompson also had a big game for the Hoosiers, scoring 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. The junior forward has been a consistent performer for the Hoosiers this season, averaging 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
The Hoosiers defense was also impressive, holding South Carolina to just 63 points. The Gamecocks average 84.7 points per game, so the IU defense did a great job of slowing them down.
