Texas In Control of SEC West After LSU, Mizzou Fall
** **Longhorns Remain Unbeaten, While Tigers, Tigers Suffer Surprising Defeats
** **Texas Longhorns Stand Alone at 3-0 in SEC Play
**After a wild weekend in the SEC, the Texas Longhorns have emerged as the clear frontrunners in the Western Division.
Texas, ranked No. 13 in the latest AP Poll, took care of business on Saturday with a 31-24 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Longhorns trailed by 11 points at halftime but rallied behind quarterback Quinn Ewers, who threw for 349 yards and three touchdowns.
With the win, Texas improved to 3-0 in SEC play, the only team in the West without a loss. The win also marked the first time since 2009 that Texas has started a season with three straight conference victories.
**Tigers Lose at Home to Auburn
**While Texas was winning, the No. 25 LSU Tigers were suffering a shocking loss at home to the unranked Auburn Tigers.
Auburn jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, eventually winning by a score of 41-17. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled mightily, throwing for just 82 yards and three interceptions.
The loss dropped LSU to 2-1 in SEC play and raised questions about the Tigers' ability to compete for a conference championship.
**Mizzou Drops Heartbreaker to Vanderbilt
**The other big surprise of the weekend came in Nashville, where the Missouri Tigers lost a 24-23 heartbreaker to the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Mizzou, who entered the game as a 14-point favorite, led 23-17 with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
However, Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann led the Commodores on a 75-yard touchdown drive, capped off by a 32-yard touchdown pass to Jayden McGowan with just 11 seconds remaining on the clock.
