Pitt Receiving Another Visit from 2026 QB Josiah Oxendine
Pittsburgh Still in the Hunt for Elite 2026 QB
Less than a week after making the trip to the Steel City for Pitt’s thrilling 45-24 Senior Day win over Wake Forest, 4-star (0.9511 247Sports Composite) quarterback Josiah Oxendine is slated to return to campus this weekend for another visit.
The 6’3”, 190-pound Oxendine (Lilburn, Ga.) is one of the top remaining uncommitted quarterbacks in the 2026 class. He’s been pursued by a number of schools, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. But Pitt has been one of the schools that’s involved the earliest and most consistently. He made an unofficial visit to Pitt last June and another unofficial visit this past September. He also attended Pitt’s Elite Junior Day event in January.
Oxendine Could Be the Next Great Pitt QB
If Pitt is able to land Oxendine’s commitment, it would be a major get for the Panthers. Oxendine is a prototypical modern-day quarterback with a strong arm, good mobility, and the ability to make plays with his legs. He’s also a very good athlete, having played basketball and baseball in high school. He’s a good student, too, with a 3.8 GPA.
In addition to his physical tools, Oxendine is also a very intelligent player. He has a good understanding of the game and is able to make quick decisions. He’s also a very good leader and is able to motivate his teammates. He’s a coach’s dream.
Pitt Has a Lot to Offer Oxendine
Pitt has a lot to offer Oxendine. The Panthers are a rising program under head coach Pat Narduzzi. They’ve won at least eight games in each of the past four seasons and have played in three ACC Championship Games during that span. They’re also one of the top academic schools in the country.
Pitt also has a lot to offer Oxendine in terms of playing time. Redshirt sophomore Nick Patti has been Pitt’s starting quarterback for the past two seasons, but he’s entering his final year of eligibility in 2024. That means that the starting quarterback job could be up for grabs in 2025. If Oxendine were to commit to Pitt, he would have a chance to compete for the starting job as a true freshman.
Pitt is the Perfect Fit for Oxendine
Pitt is the perfect fit for Oxendine. He’s a talented quarterback with a lot of potential, and Pitt is a program that’s on the rise. He has a chance to make an immediate impact at Pitt, and he could be the quarterback of the future for the Panthers.
