Early Life and Education
Pervez Khattak was born on December 1, 1950, in Nowshera, Pakistan. He graduated from Islamia College Peshawar with a B.A. in political science and a degree in civil engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. Khattak also studied at Balliol College, Oxford, England, where he received an M.Phil. in international relations.
Political Career
Khattak's political career began in the 1980s when he joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N). He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1985 and served as the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources from 1988 to 1990. After the 1999 Pakistani coup d'état, Khattak joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by Imran Khan.
