Pervez Khattak was born on 1 January 1950 in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He received his early education in Pakistan and the United States, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Khattak began his political career in the 1980s, joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 1996. He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1997 and served as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs from 1997 to 1999.

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In 2013, Khattak was elected as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, becoming the first PTI chief minister in the province.
