Nebraska cancels USC football game scheduled for Sept. 16

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Nebraska Cornhuskers football game against the USC Trojans scheduled for Sept. 16 in Ireland has been canceled, the Lincoln Journal Star reported Tuesday.
Citing a payment issue, the Journal Star reported that USC canceled the game. The Trojans were set to pay Nebraska $1.2 million for the game, which was part of a three-game series between the two schools.
Teams to meet in 2025 and 2026
The teams are still scheduled to meet in 2025 in Lincoln and 2026 in Los Angeles.
The Cornhuskers are now scheduled to open the 2023 season on Sept. 2 at home against Northern Illinois.
