Mbappe on Fire in Stockholm: French Star Scores Hat-Trick in PSG's Dominant Win
A Night to Remember at Tele2 Arena
Kylian Mbappe stole the show in Stockholm on Tuesday night, scoring a stunning hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) demolished IFK Goteborg 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League. The 23-year-old French forward was in scintillating form throughout the match, terrorizing the Swedish defense with his pace, skill, and clinical finishing.
Mbappe opened the scoring in the 10th minute, latching onto a through ball from Lionel Messi and firing a low shot into the bottom corner. He doubled his tally shortly after the half-hour mark, this time receiving a pass from Neymar and curling a delightful effort into the top corner. The hat-trick was completed in the 65th minute, as Mbappe converted a penalty after being fouled inside the area.
Mbappe's performance was all the more impressive considering that he had not scored in his previous three matches. However, he showed no signs of rustiness against Goteborg, and his goals helped PSG secure a comfortable victory that moved them to the top of Group H.
PSG manager Christophe Galtier was full of praise for Mbappe after the match, saying: "Kylian was simply unplayable tonight. He was too quick, too strong, and too clinical for the Goteborg defense. He is one of the best players in the world, and he showed it once again tonight."
Mbappe's hat-trick was his first in the Champions League since February 2021, and it takes his tally for PSG to 209 goals in 245 appearances. The French international is now just one goal away from equaling Edinson Cavani's record as PSG's all-time leading scorer.
PSG will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Reims in Ligue 1. Mbappe will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form and help his team maintain their lead at the top of the table.
