Lions TE Sam LaPorta OUT vs. Jaguars, 1 player questionable
LaPorta ruled out for Week 13
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to an ankle injury. LaPorta suffered the injury in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills and did not return to the game. He was initially listed as questionable for Week 13, but the Lions have now ruled him out after he was unable to practice all week. LaPorta has been a key contributor for the Lions this season, catching 21 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in 10 games.
Brock Wright likely to start in LaPorta's absence
With LaPorta out, Brock Wright is expected to start at tight end for the Lions against the Jaguars. Wright has 12 catches for 142 yards and a touchdown this season. He has also been a key blocker for the Lions' running game. Wright will be looking to step up and fill the void left by LaPorta's absence.
Lions also list 1 player questionable for Week 13
The Lions also listed one other player as questionable for Week 13: wide receiver Quintez Cephus (foot). Cephus has been dealing with a foot injury for the past few weeks and has missed the Lions' last two games. He was able to practice on a limited basis this week, but his status for Week 13 is still up in the air. If Cephus is unable to play, the Lions will be without their top three wide receivers, as Amon-Ra St. Brown (concussion) and DJ Chark (ankle) have already been ruled out.
