Early Life and Education
Knut Storberget was born on October 12, 1964, in Steinkjer, Norway. He earned a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1991.
After completing his studies, Storberget worked as a lawyer in Steinkjer before entering politics.
Political Career
Storberget's political career began in 1993 when he was elected to the Norwegian Parliament as a member of the Labour Party.
He served in various cabinet positions under Prime Ministers Jens Stoltenberg and Gro Harlem Brundtland, including Minister of Justice and Public Security from 2005 to 2011.

As Minister of Justice and Public Security, Storberget oversaw significant reforms in the Norwegian criminal justice system, including the introduction of a new penal code and the establishment of a new police force.
He also played a key role in Norway's response to the 2011 terrorist attacks in Oslo and Utøya.
Post-Political Career
After leaving politics in 2011, Storberget worked as a lawyer and commentator.
He also served as the head of the Norwegian Red Cross from 2017 to 2021.
