Early Life and Education
Knut Storberget (born October 12, 1964) is a prominent figure in Norwegian politics and law. Born in Elverum, Norway, Storberget pursued higher education at the University of Oslo, where he earned a law degree in 1991.
Before entering politics, Storberget worked as a prosecutor in Hedmark and Oppland, gaining valuable experience in the legal field.
Political Career
Storberget's political journey commenced in 1993 when he was elected to the Norwegian Parliament as a representative for Hedmark County, representing the Labour Party.
Rising through the ranks of the Labour Party, Storberget held various ministerial positions, including Minister of Justice and Public Security from 2005 to 2011.
Minister of Justice and Public Security
During his tenure as Minister of Justice, Storberget oversaw significant reforms in the Norwegian criminal justice system, including the implementation of a new penal code.
Additionally, he played a leading role in strengthening international cooperation on crime prevention and was instrumental in Norway's ratification of the Rome Statute, establishing the International Criminal Court.
