Jazz Granted Disabled Player Exception As Result Of Taylor Hendricks Injury
NBA Grants Exception After Season-Ending Injury
The Utah Jazz have been granted a disabled player exception by the NBA after forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a season-ending injury.
Hendricks Injury
Hendricks, 25, was injured in the Jazz's preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 10. He suffered a torn ACL in his right knee and is expected to miss the entire 2022-23 season.
Disabled Player Exception
The disabled player exception allows teams to exceed the NBA's salary cap in order to sign a replacement player for an injured player who is expected to miss at least half of the season. The Jazz will now have the ability to sign a player for up to 50% of Hendricks' salary, which is $1.9 million.
Jazz Roster
The Jazz's roster currently stands at 15 players, including two-way players.
With the addition of a player using the disabled player exception, the Jazz's roster will be at 16 players.
Next Steps
The Jazz are expected to use the disabled player exception to sign a veteran player who can provide depth and experience.
Some potential targets for the Jazz include: Trevor Ariza, Joe Ingles, and Otto Porter Jr.
