Overview
Apple released the seventh beta of iOS 18.1 to developers on Monday, November 7, 2022. The update includes several new features and improvements, including a new Lock Screen widget, a redesigned battery indicator, and Live Activities support. iOS 18.1 is expected to be released to the public in the coming weeks.
New Features
Lock Screen Widget
The new Lock Screen widget allows users to add widgets to their Lock Screen, providing quick access to information and apps. Widgets can be added from the widget gallery, which includes a variety of options such as weather, calendar, stocks, and more.
Redesigned Battery Indicator
The redesigned battery indicator provides a more detailed view of the battery level. The indicator now shows the battery percentage, as well as a graph of the battery usage over the past 24 hours. This makes it easier to see how long the battery will last and what apps are using the most power.
Live Activities Support
Live Activities support allows users to stay up-to-date on live events, such as sports games or ride-sharing pickups, directly from the Lock Screen. Live Activities are interactive and can be updated in real time, so users can always stay informed.
Other Improvements
In addition to the new features, iOS 18.1 also includes a number of other improvements, such as:
- Improved performance and stability
- Bug fixes
- Security updates
Release Date
iOS 18.1 is expected to be released to the public in the coming weeks. Apple has not yet announced a specific release date, but it is likely that the update will be released sometime in November or December.
