Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has been forced to withdraw from his fight against Uriah Hall at UFC 309 due to a hand injury.

Weidman, 38, was due to face Hall on the main card of the event, which takes place on March 10 in Las Vegas.

However, the American has been forced to pull out of the bout after suffering a hand injury in training.

Weidman took to social media to express his disappointment at having to withdraw from the fight.

“Gutted to announce that I’ll be forced to withdraw from my fight against Uriah Hall at UFC 309,” Weidman wrote on Instagram.

The withdrawal is a setback for Weidman, who was hoping to return to winning ways after losing his last two fights.

The American has not won a fight since beating Omari Akhmedov in August 2020.

Hall, meanwhile, will now face a new opponent at UFC 309.

The Jamaican is on a two-fight winning streak, having beaten Sean Strickland and Antonio Carlos Junior in his last two outings.

The main event of UFC 309 will see Israel Adesanya defend his middleweight title against Marvin Vettori.

The pair previously met at UFC on Fox 29 in 2018, with Adesanya winning by unanimous decision.
