Doug McDermott Traded to Sacramento Kings
Former Jazz Forward Lands in California
McDermott for Gay and Harkless
In a three-team deal, the Utah Jazz have traded forward Doug McDermott to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for center Willie Cauley-Stein and a future second-round pick, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Memphis Grizzlies are also involved in the deal, sending guard Delon Wright to the Kings and forward Kyle Anderson to the Jazz.
McDermott, 27, is a 6-foot-8 forward who has spent the last two seasons with the Jazz. He averaged 13.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season, shooting 45.9% from the field and 42.2% from three-point range.
The Kings are getting a reliable scorer in McDermott, who has averaged double-figure scoring in each of the last four seasons. He is also a good three-point shooter, which will help space the floor for Sacramento's young guards, De'Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.
The Jazz are getting a younger player in Cauley-Stein, who is 26 years old. The 7-foot center averaged 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last season. He is a good rebounder and defender, and he can also score in the post.
The Grizzlies are getting a veteran guard in Wright, who is 27 years old. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 7.1 points and 3.8 assists per game last season. He is a good defender and can also hit the three-point shot.
The trade is a good move for all three teams involved. The Kings get a reliable scorer in McDermott, the Jazz get a younger player in Cauley-Stein, and the Grizzlies get a veteran guard in Wright.
