Donarumma gives emotional interview after playing against former club AC Milan
Gianluigi Donarumma made an emotional return to San Siro on Sunday as his new club Inter Milan faced his former team AC Milan in a Serie A clash.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper left Milan on a free transfer in the summer after his contract expired, and he was given a hostile reception by the home fans when he returned to the stadium.
However, Donarumma put in a strong performance and helped Inter to a 2-1 victory, and he spoke to the media after the game about his emotions.
"It was a strange feeling to come back to San Siro as an opponent," Donarumma said.
"I spent seven years at Milan and it was my home, so it was difficult to play against them.
"But I'm a professional and I have to do my job, and I'm happy that we won the game."
Donarumma also revealed that he had received some messages of support from his former Milan teammates before the game.
"I received some messages from my old teammates before the game, which was nice," Donarumma said.
"It shows that they still care about me, and that means a lot to me."
Donarumma's return to San Siro was a reminder of his quality, and he showed that he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
He will be hoping to continue his good form for Inter and help the club to win the Serie A title this season.
