Chelsea given huge £30m transfer discount in shock return for world-class striker
Blues reportedly offered chance to re-sign Romelu Lukaku at knockdown price
Inter Milan desperate to offload Belgian forward after dismal season
Chelsea have been handed a huge transfer boost in their pursuit of a new striker, with reports suggesting that they have been offered the chance to re-sign Romelu Lukaku at a knockdown price.
The Belgian striker has endured a dismal season at Inter Milan, scoring just eight goals in 35 appearances in all competitions, and the Serie A side are now desperate to offload him in order to free up funds for other transfer targets.
Lukaku only left Stamford Bridge last summer in a club-record £97.5million deal, but it is believed that Chelsea could now bring him back for just £67.5million - a £30million discount on the fee they received for him just 12 months ago.
The 29-year-old is said to be keen on a return to west London, and Chelsea are believed to be interested in bringing him back as they look to bolster their attacking options following the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku scored 121 goals in 352 appearances during his previous spell at Chelsea, and he would be a welcome addition to the squad as they look to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
However, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to pay £67.5million for a player who has struggled to make an impact at Inter Milan this season.
The Blues are also thought to be interested in signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, but the Norwegian striker is likely to cost in excess of £100million.
