Charli XCX and Kyle Mooney's ‘SNL’ Monologue Pokes Fun at Martha Stewart Feud
Charli XCX's 'SNL' Dig at Martha Stewart
Charli XCX, the British pop star, poked fun at her recent, much-publicized feud with lifestyle guru Martha Stewart in her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live on March 11, 2023.
The feud began when Charli XCX, 30, posted a photo of herself wearing a Martha Stewart-branded T-shirt on Instagram. Stewart, 81, commented on the photo, saying that she was "not a fan" of Charli XCX's music.
Charli XCX responded by saying that she was "disappointed" by Stewart's comments, and that she thought Stewart was "being a bully." The feud quickly escalated, with both sides trading barbs on social media.
Kyle Mooney's 'SNL' Shoutout to Charli XCX
In her 'SNL' monologue, Charli XCX joked that she was "not used to being out this early on a Saturday night" - a reference to Stewart's reputation for being an early riser.
She also quipped that she was "glad" that Stewart had "finally decided to come out of retirement" to feud with her.
Charli XCX then introduced musical guest Christine and the Queens, who performed their song "Je te vois enfin."
